Does it feel like every room in your home needs attention, but you have no idea where to begin?
Maybe you’ve been meaning to organize the pantry, tackle the closets, or finally figure out what to do with everything that doesn’t seem to have a home. But every time you think about starting, the project feels bigger than the time you have available.
Sound familiar?
You’re definitely not alone.
At Everyday Organize, we work with busy Kansas City families who feel this exact same way.
And here’s something we tell our clients all the time: You don’t need to have everything figured out before asking for help. That’s what we’re here for.

What Happens When You Hire Everyday Organize?
1) Start With What’s Not Working, Not What’s Most Cluttered
When your entire home feels overwhelming, it’s tempting to start with the space that looks the most disorganized.
But that’s not always the best place to begin.
Instead, think about which areas of your home are making everyday life more difficult.
Maybe it’s the pantry…you can never find what you need when you’re making dinner. Or the primary closet…getting dressed takes twice as long as it should. Maybe it’s the kitchen countertops that seem to collect everything your family brings through the door.
Ask yourself:
● Which space frustrates me the most?
● Where am I wasting time looking for things?
● What part of our daily routine could be easier?
● Which space would make the biggest difference if it were organized?
The goal isn’t simply to make your home look better. It’s to make your home work better for you.
When we begin a professional organizing project, we spend time understanding how our clients use their spaces and what isn’t working.
That way, we’re not just putting things away. We’re creating solutions that actually make everyday life easier.
2) Don’t Try to Organize Your Entire House at Once
One of the biggest reasons organizing feels overwhelming is that we tend to think about everything that needs to be done.
The kitchen needs attention. The kids’ closets are overflowing. The garage could use some help. And let’s not even talk about that storage room!
Suddenly, what started as a simple organizing project feels like an enormous undertaking.
Instead of looking at your entire home, start by identifying one space that would make a meaningful difference.
Check out this blog post that outlines our favorite tips to getting organized.
That might be your pantry, primary closet, playroom, or even one particularly frustrating cabinet.
If you’re organizing on your own, break that space into smaller sections and focus on one at a time.
If you’re working with a professional organizing team, you can take a different approach.
At Everyday Organize, we typically work in teams of two or three organizers. This allows us to accomplish significantly more in a shorter amount of time, often transforming an entire space in a single day.
You don’t have to spend every weekend for the next three months getting your home organized.
Sometimes the best solution is simply having the right team and a thoughtful plan.
3) Stop Buying Organizing Products Before You Have a Plan
We love beautiful organizing products as much as anyone (I see you cute bins at Home Goods).
But here’s something we’ve learned after organizing hundreds of spaces:
Buying more organizing product doesn’t automatically make a space more organized.
In fact, purchasing products before understanding what you actually need can make organizing more complicated.
You might end up with bins that don’t capitalize on all your shelf space, containers that don’t work for your family’s belongings, or systems that look beautiful but aren’t practical to maintain.
Before purchasing anything, consider four things:
What needs to be stored?
Take inventory of what you own and how much space those items require. How do you use the space?
The things you reach for everyday should be easy to access. Items you use occasionally can be stored farther away.Who needs to use the system?
A playroom that works for a toddler may need a completely different setup than one used by older kids. What are the measurements of the space and items?
There’s nothing worse than bringing a bunch of product home and finding out it either doesn’t fit your shelf, or doesn’t fit the items you need to store.
At Everyday Organize, we start with the space and the family’s needs. Then we recommend products that support the organizing system we’ve designed. Products that can complement the style of your home.
Sometimes that means purchasing new products. Other times, we can make great use of what our clients already own.
The important thing is creating a system that is simple to reset and grows with your family.
4) You Don’t Need to Get Rid of Everything
For some people, the thought of organizing their home immediately brings up another overwhelming question: What am I supposed to do with all this stuff?
And sometimes, that question is enough to stop the project before it even starts.
Here’s the good news: Getting organized doesn’t mean you have to become a minimalist.
You can love your belongings, keep the things that are important to your family, and still have a beautifully organized home.
The key is making thoughtful decisions about what deserves space in your home.
Start by asking yourself whether an item is something you use, need, or genuinely want to keep.
If it is, let’s find a good home for it!
If it isn’t, consider whether it could be donated, recycled, or passed along to someone else.
And if you’re struggling to make those decisions, that’s completely normal.
Our Decluttering & Organizing service is designed for families who need help sorting through their belongings and figuring out what stays.
We work alongside you, help you make decisions, and create functional systems for the things you’re keeping.
There’s no pressure to get rid of everything, and there’s certainly no judgment. And as a bonus, we will donate your items for you, following each session.
Our job is to help you create a home that works for your family—not tell you how much you should own.
5) Create Organizing Systems Your Family Will Actually Use
Have you ever spent an entire weekend organizing a space, only to find it looking exactly the same a few weeks later?
It’s frustrating, especially when you’ve invested so much time getting everything in order.
But here’s the thing: A good organizing system should make everyday life easier, not create more work.
If maintaining an organized space requires complicated steps or constant reminders, the system probably isn’t the right fit.
Think about how your family actually lives:
If your kids drop their backpacks by the garage door every afternoon, maybe that’s where their backpack storage should be.
If everyone grabs snacks from the same pantry shelf, make that area easy to access and simple to maintain.
If paperwork consistently piles up on the kitchen counter, create a designated place for incoming mail, school papers, and important documents.
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective.
As professional home organizers, we think through all those little details before creating a system.
Because an organized home isn’t just about how it looks the day we finish. It’s about how well it functions six months later.
6) Know When It’s Time to Ask for Help
Here’s something we hear from new clients all the time: “I’ve been wanting to do this for so long. I just haven’t known where to start.”
And we completely understand.
Organizing an entire space takes time. You have to sort through belongings, make decisions, measure shelves and drawers, figure out storage solutions, shop for products, and then actually put everything together.
That’s a lot to tackle when you already have a full schedule.
Sometimes you have the time and energy to do it yourself. And sometimes, you don’t.
Hiring a professional organizer doesn’t mean you’re incapable of organizing your own home. It simply means you’ve decided you don’t want to spend your valuable time doing it.
It’s no different from hiring someone to clean your home, maintain your landscaping, or handle another project you’d rather take off your list.
Our clients are busy families who want to enjoy their homes without spending every free weekend working on them.
They want functional, beautiful spaces.
They want systems their kids can maintain.
And they want someone they trust to handle the details.
That’s exactly what our team is here to do.
7) You Don’t Need to Organize Before the Organizers Arrive
This might be the most important thing we want you to know.
Please don’t feel like you need to get your home organized before reaching out to us! I know this is a thing we do when we know the house cleaner is coming. But for organizing, it helps us to see what ISN’T working so we can create a system that WILL.
We know that inviting someone into a space you’re struggling with can feel a little uncomfortable.
Maybe you’ve been putting off scheduling a consultation because you’re embarrassed by how much needs to be done.
Or maybe you feel like you should make some progress before asking for help.
You don’t need to do either.
We’ve worked in hundreds of spaces throughout the Kansas City area, and every family and every home is different.
We’re not coming into your home to judge what you own or how you’ve been managing things. We’re coming in to help.
You don’t need to have a plan.
You don’t need to buy organizing products.
And you definitely don’t need to spend the weekend getting everything ready for us.
You just need to tell us what you’d like to change. We’ll help you figure out the rest.
What Happens When You Hire Everyday Organize?
If you’ve never worked with a professional home organizer, you might be wondering what the process actually looks like.
At Everyday Organize, we make it simple.
First, we start with a conversation.
During our complimentary 15-minute discovery call, we’ll talk about the spaces you’d like to organize, what’s currently frustrating you, and what you’re hoping to accomplish.
You don’t need to know exactly what service you need. We’ll help you determine the best approach. And we’ll discuss pricing and give you a free estimate for your space(s).
Then we take our next steps.
Depending on the project, we’ll visit your home, take measurements, evaluate your space, and develop a customized organizing plan.
For our Home Organizing & Styling projects, that can include space planning, product recommendations, and sourcing the organizing products needed to bring everything together.
For our Home Decluttering projects, we can typically go ahead and schedule our first 1:1 session together.
For our Unpacking & Organizing projects, that can be a combination of the two services.
Finally, we handle the organizing details.
We handle the sorting, categorizing, organizing, product placement, and labeling.
Our goal is to take the heavy lifting off your plate while creating systems that make sense for your family’s everyday routines.
And when we’re finished?
You get to enjoy a beautifully organized space without having spent weeks figuring out how to make it happen.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Professional Organizer?
Another common question we hear is how much professional home organizing costs.
At Everyday Organize, our home organizing & styling services are $100 per hour, per organizer, and most projects can be completed in just one day. Our home decluttering 1:1 services are $85 per hour and we typically schedule 4 hours at a time.
A primary closet typically ranges from $1,000–$1,400, while a kitchen or pantry typically ranges from $1,000–$1,600, plus the cost of any organizing products.
Every project is different, so we’ll help you understand what your particular space may require before getting started.
