Why Does the Cost of Professional Organizing Vary?
Two pantries can be exactly the same size and require very different amounts of organizing time.
That’s because we’re not simply putting things into pretty bins.
Several factors can affect the cost of your project.
1. The size of the space
A reach-in closet will typically require less time than a large primary closet. The same is true for a one-car garage compared with an oversized three-car garage.
2. How much you own
The number of items in the space makes a difference.
Before we can create an organizing system, everything needs to be categorized so we can understand what you own, how frequently you use it, and where it makes the most sense for those items to live.
3. Whether decluttering is needed
If you already know everything in your space is staying, we can typically move directly into organizing.
If you want help deciding what to keep, donate or remove from your home, we can help with that too.
Decluttering takes additional time because those decisions are personal. We never want you to feel rushed or pressured to get rid of something just to move the project along.
4. The number of organizers
Everyday Organize projects use teams of 1-3 organizers.
It may sound counterintuitive that bringing more people could be beneficial to your budget, but a team allows several things to happen simultaneously.
While one organizer is sorting, another may be measuring or preparing products, while someone else is creating categories and beginning to put the new system into place.
That teamwork is how we’re able to complete many transformations in a single organizing day.
5. Organizing products
Organizing products are an additional cost and vary significantly from project to project.
Some spaces need very little, or we can repurpose what you already have. Others benefit from matching bins, drawer dividers, turntables, shelf risers or other products that maximize the space and give everything a designated home.
We don’t believe in buying organizing products before we have a plan.
The plan comes first. The products support the plan.
We thoughtfully recommend products based on the measurements of your space, what you own, how your family uses the area, and the look or aesthetic you want to achieve.
What Is Included When You Hire Everyday Organize?
Professional organizing is about much more than the hours we spend putting items away on organizing day.
For our Home Organizing & Styling projects, our process includes thoughtful planning before we ever begin transforming your space.
Depending on your project, that can include:
An initial discovery call
An in-home consultation
A customized organizing plan
Space planning and a blueprint for your space
Organizing product recommendations
Product shopping and ordering
Our goal is to take as much of the project off your plate as possible.
You don’t need to spend your evenings researching bins, measuring shelves or trying to figure out whether something will fit.
We create the plan, handle the details and arrive ready to transform your space.
How Long Does It Take a Professional Organizer to Organize a Room?
Many individual spaces can be professionally organized in one day.
A kids’ playroom, for example, typically takes our two-person team about 4–6 hours. A primary closet usually takes approximately 5–7 hours with two organizers.
Larger or more involved spaces require a larger team or more time. A garage typically takes three organizers approximately 6–7 hours, while a kitchen and pantry together generally require three organizers for 6–8 hours.
Whole-home and multi-space projects may take multiple organizing days.
This is one of the reasons we use a team approach. Most of our clients are busy. They don’t want an organizing project stretching across several weeks.
Neither do we.
Do I Need to Buy Organizing Products?
Not necessarily.
We work with what makes sense for your home, your needs and the look you want.
Sometimes we can repurpose products you already own. Other times, investing in the right products can dramatically improve how a space looks, feels & functions.
If we recommend new organizing products, you’ll know what we’re recommending and what they cost before we move forward.
For clients who want a more finished, cohesive look, our Premium Organizing & Styling service includes product recommendations and shopping so you don’t have to spend your own time searching for the right solution.
Do I Need to Declutter Before Hiring a Professional Organizer?
No. Please don’t feel like you need to organize before the organizers arrive.
It actually helps us to see what isn’t working, so we can create better systems for you.
If you’re ready for professional decluttering support but know you have too much in the space, our team can help you work through your belongings and decide what stays.
We approach decluttering without judgment.
Our job isn’t to tell you how much you should own. It’s to help you determine what’s useful and important to you, then create a functional home for what you’re keeping.
Is Hiring a Professional Organizer Worth It?
The answer depends on what you need most.
Some people genuinely enjoy organizing and have the time to work through their homes themselves. If that’s you, hiring a professional organizer may not be necessary.
But many of the families we work with know how to organize. What they’re missing is the time to actually do it. Or they’re tired of reorganizing the same spaces over and over because the underlying system isn’t working.
Professional organizing can be especially valuable if:
Your free time is limited and you don’t want to spend weekends organizing.
You feel overwhelmed and aren’t sure where to begin.
You’ve organized the same space repeatedly but it never stays that way.
You’re moving and want to start your new home with systems already in place.
You want an expert to determine how to use your storage space more efficiently.
You want someone else to handle the planning, products and physical work.
You want systems that the rest of your family can actually maintain.
You want each space in your home to be beautiful and functional.
For our clients, the finished pantry or closet is only part of the value.
The bigger goal is making everyday life at home easier.
When everyone knows where things belong, resetting a room is faster. Getting out the door is easier. You stop buying things you already own because you can actually see what you have.
Those little improvements happen over and over again long after organizing day is finished.
Can a Professional Organizer Help With More Than One Room?
Absolutely.
Some clients call us for one frustrating pantry or closet. Others want help with several areas of their home at once.
For example, organizing a primary suite—including the closet, bedroom and bathroom—typically ranges from $1,800–$2,400 in organizing services with our three-person team.
A kitchen and pantry project typically falls in the same $1,800–$2,400 range.
We also offer package pricing for multiple spaces.
If several areas of your home need attention, we’ll help you prioritize them and determine the best way to approach the project.
Can a Professional Organizer Help Me Unpack After a Move?
Yes—and this is one of our favorite times to organize a home.
Instead of unpacking everything wherever it happens to fit and reorganizing it later, we can plan your spaces before or during your move and create systems as your belongings are unpacked.
Our Kansas City unpacking and organizing service can include space planning, product recommendations, unpacking, organizing, labels and removal of packing materials.
The result is a home that’s functional much sooner after moving day.
What Areas Does Everyday Organize Serve?
Everyday Organize provides professional home organizing, decluttering and unpacking services throughout the Kansas City metro and surrounding areas, including:
Leawood, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Shawnee, Lenexa, Olathe, Mission Hills, Roeland Park, Loch Lloyd, Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.
We’ve also completed some amazing spaces all around the city in areas like Kearney, Parkville, Paola, Eudora, Bonner Springs, Gardner, and Spring Hill.
We work with busy families who want their homes to feel beautiful and organized—but don’t necessarily have the time to make that happen themselves.
How Do I Get an Estimate for Professional Organizing?
Because every home and project is different, we start with a complimentary 15-minute discovery call.
We’ll talk about the spaces you’d like organized, what’s currently not working, your goals for the project, approximate pricing and whether Everyday Organize is the right fit for you.
For larger projects, the next step is typically an in-home consultation so we can see your space, take measurements and prepare a more specific proposal.
There is no expectation that you need to know exactly what you need before calling us.
That’s part of what we’re here to help you figure out.
